Improve the quality of life and increase longevity for Veterans with spinal cord injury.

Spinal cord injuries (SCI) represent a significant and life-altering challenge, particularly within the veteran community. Statistics reveal that veterans are disproportionately affected by spinal cord injuries, with thousands living with the consequences of these debilitating conditions. These injuries not only limit mobility but also lead to numerous secondary medical complications, such as chronic pain, respiratory issues, and increased susceptibility to infections. As the veteran population ages, the prevalence of these secondary complications continues to rise, underscoring the urgent need for advanced research and innovative treatments.

The VA Spinal Cord Damage Research Center is dedicated to improving the quality of life and increasing the longevity of veterans living with spinal cord injuries. Our mission is to improve the quality of life and increase longevity for persons with spinal cord injury by identifying, preventing, and treating the secondary medical complications of paralysis, providing veterans with the comprehensive care they need. Despite the progress made in medical science, significant gaps remain in our understanding and treatment of these conditions. Your support is crucial in helping us bridge these gaps, develop new therapies, and ultimately enhance the lives of veterans who have sacrificed so much for our country. By donating, you contribute to cutting-edge research that has the potential to transform lives and offer hope to those affected by spinal cord injuries.
